Job Description: SAS Consultant Qualifications

Base SAS (Windows NT)

  • Candidate must be able to follow program specifications to write, test, debug, document, and implement complex SAS programs to extract data from a variety of data sources, transform the data, and load the data to specified destinations.
  • Ability to create SAS Data Sets from raw data extracted from various data sources and file formats, for example simple ASCII flat files; EBCDIC flat files; flat files with multiple layouts, (Header, Detail, and Trailer records); Excel spreadsheets; RDBMS tables; and SAS data sets.
  • Ability to write output SAS data sets and flat files.
  • Strong Experience with the Data Step.
  • Strong Experience with SAS Sort and Merge functionality.
  • In depth knowledge of the SAS Program Data Vector (PDV).
  • Familiar with SAS arrays and PROC Tabulate.
  • Excellent Knowledge of procedures like PROC SUMMARY, PROC TABULATE, PROC REPORT, PROC COMPARE, etc.
  • Ability to use a variety of SAS formats and to convert from one data type to another.
  • Strong knowledge of SAS functions.
  • Ability to remove records with duplicate keys.
  • Run SAS programs in batch mode.
  • Experience with SAS 9.1 is a plus.

SAS MACRO
  • Ability to write flexible and reusable code using SAS Macros.
  • Experience in Assigning Values to SAS MACRO variables and evaluating SAS MACRO variables.
  • Familiar with the differences between Data and Marco Variables.
  • Complete understanding of Automatic, Global, and Local MACRO variables scope.
  • Ability to use positional parameters and to assign default values to the parameters to MACROS.

PROC SQL
  • Ability to Connect using SAS interface to ODBC.
  • Strong Experience with Queries; Inner and Outer Joins; Merging; updating large data sets; and removing duplicates.
  • Ability to create tables and views.
  • Understanding of Indexes.

SQL
  • Knowledge and Strong Experience with databases like Oracle, Sybase, and M! S SQL Se rver.
  • Proficient in implementing Data Warehousing Solutions.
  • Ability to perform Selects, Updates, Inserts, Deletes on database tables.
  • Knowledge of Sybase and MS SQL Server BCP is a plus.

  • Banking Experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DOS commands is a plus.
